The RAMP System is a highly sensitive portable testing platform that delivers accurate and reliable results in less than 15 minutes. Tests for Anthrax, Ricin, Botulinum Toxin (Bot Tox) and Pox viruses, including Smallpox, have been developed and are commercially available.
RAMP System Highlights
• Rapid – less than 15 minutes
• Sensitive – 4,000 Anthrax spores
• Battery operated or AC
• Portable – less than 5 lbs
• Connected – upload through RS-232 port to printer or computer
• Simple to use with minimal training
RAMP Environmental Tests
The system of choice for rapid detection of Anthrax, Ricin, Botulinum Toxin and Pox.
Independent test results confirm that the RAMP Anthrax Test is the world's most reliable, rapid and sensitive on-site anthrax test for the environmental detection of potentially contaminated surfaces and fluids. It acts as an essential emergency device for public safety organizations, military and major corporations, analogous to a standard fire extinguisher – not often used but readily available. For environmental detection, other rapid on-site detection systems for biological agents have been limited in their effectiveness because results are either unreliable, meaningless or both. In some cases 40 million anthrax spores were required to trigger a positive anthrax result.
The sampling method used for RAMP is a swab method. The sensitivity of detection is as follows:
• Anthrax - 4 ng (4000 spores)
• Bot Tox - 5 ng
• Ricin - 10 ng
• Pox - 3.6 ng
Specificity
Specificity testing to determine if the test cross-reacts with other strains of Bacillus including Bacillus subtilus, Bacillus cereus, and Bacillus thuringiensis was conducted. No false positive results were observed in any of the studies from any sample that contained less than 107 spores of a related Bacillus strain. Potentially interfering substances (powders) were tested to determine the effects on the Anthrax, Bot Tox, and Ricin Tests. All results were negative.
The RAMP System
RAMP is designed to provide first responders and public safety workers with rapid reliable diagnostic information on-site. By simply adding a small sample to a single use disposable test cartridge and then inserting it into the portable RAMP reader, users are provided with a positive/negative result in minutes. The results for up to 99 tests are stored in memory. The results can be uploaded through an RS 232 connection to a portable printer or computer.
