The AP2C is a portable chemical contamination control apparatus which is used to detect chemical agents G (GA, GB, GD, GF,...), VX and HD in the form of vapour or aerosols.
The AP2C is particularly suitable for military use in rough conditions : fast turn on, immediate identification and measurement, single handed operation, simplicity of use, can be turned off without precautions...
The AP2C is a flame spectrophotometer. Air containing toxic agents is drawn in and heated to a high temperature in a hydrogen burner. The elements emits rays in their spectral characteristic emissions.
The AP2C detect the atoms of phosphorus (contained in G,V agents) and sulphur (contained in HD,V agents).
The S4PE is used in conjunction with the AP2C to detect persitent chemical agents VX HD or G agents In liquid form.
These toxics agents, which do not give off any vapour, are collected by the S4PE. The S4PE has a scraper which adsorbs the toxic agent by simple contact with any contaminated surface.
When the sample has been taken, the scraper is positionned in the AP2C tube and heated to vaporize the toxic agents which can then be detected by the AP2C. The AP2C can be used for liquids with the same advantages as for vapours : fast turn on, immediate identification and measurement, single handed operation, simplicity of use, can be turned off whitout precautions...
A medical tube is also available to be used with the S4PE for detecting persistents chemicals directly on a wounded person's skin. |
