The locator detects ferrous and non-ferrous metal and differentiates in its detection signals between surface bound scrap metal and deep buried metal objects of substantial size. Small fragments, even when close to the sensor, are generally suppressed from indication. The locator is equipped with an audio signal device and a galvanometer with positive and negative range to transmit the detection results. In digital surveys the character of the detected signatures is processed by specific software and converted into a color coded map with blue and red contrasts.
